DO YOU HAVE IT TOO?

I can’t tell for sure but I think we all have it. That voice inside us. That nasty little persuasive voice. Always there to try and protect us in the only way it knows, with demeaning and derogatory thoughts such as:

I am not lovable , I am not enough, I am wrong , I am ugly, I am unable to reach success and my goals , I don’t believe in myself , I don’t trust myself, I don’t trust anyone , I am lost , I am hopeless, I am useless, I am pathetic , I won’t make it, I’m a loser, I will be ridiculed

The voice that wants us to stay in our comfort zone, keep us from change and make sure that nothing happens to us. It’s a well meaning voice , actually just tryna protect us. It wants us to not stand out so we can’t be at risk. But sadly if the thoughts are listened to long enough they start to appear true and they will take as much space as they can.

None of these thoughts are very attractive. Feeling insecure is not something we wanna show off to the world. Many of us create masks to hide the wounds we keep inside and to keep from evolving out of our comfort zone.

My mask is:

  • Being silly

  • Being clumsy

  • Being unserious

  • Being irresponsible

  • Seemingly unbothered

  • Seeming crazy

  • Extroverted

  • Lighthearted

  • Bubbly

  • The “class clown”

  • The sidekick

This is what I have been doing everyday daily in various degrees to hide the fact that I really want to be organised, adventurous, ambitious, responsible, serious, powerful, perfectionist and a bit of an introvert really.

Somewhere in my life I have been convinced that those are not good qualities to have or not suitable for me, and I have hid them away and judged other people who possessed these qualities since they to me were bad and shameful, and something you definitely shouldn’t flaunt. And as long as I kept my mask on, I could always use it as an excuse.

The mask comes from the ego, and the ego consists of basically all the rules you have been told throughout your life, from parents, friends, enemies, media, books and so on.

“You can’t do this, you should do that, you will be liked if you do so, and if not, you will not be taken seriously.”

Lots of rules made by lots of people that in the end don’t have to be your rules.

Maybe your mask and truth are exact opposites of mine or something completely different, no matter what I invite you to investigate what you use or used to hide your true self.

I hope you are living closer to your truth everyday,

Love

FEFE
