HOW TO BE NORMAL

1. Dress to suppress
Wear what the others wear. Scan your surroundings and dress for what you are - normal. Preferably non vibrant colours, with no patterns or prints. No crazy accessories, go unnoticed.
2. Hate Mondays
Back in the wheel: Now begin the five days of the week where you don’t decide what you do with people you didn’t decide to do it with. That’s 71,43 % of your week. And because everyone hates Mondays, you do too. Makes for great water cooler talk.
3. Say yes to everything
That annoying lady who only talks about her misery wants to meet you for a chat and a chai latte? Say yes, because now she can see you read the message and you must not be rude.
4. Gossip
Because nothing makes people come together quicker than talking about that person who dared to say no to the chai latte after everything you went through. Also makes for great water cooler moment.
5. Believe you can’t
You always had that lil’ secret dream. But, no. It’s too late now. It’s just a silly thing. And there are so many people doing it better. No, it wouldn’t be possible.
6. Don’t care
Forget your passions or your big opinions. Because if you meet someone who thinks the opposite, it will be harder to make them like you. Make all of ur mind average and easygoing.
7. Go with the flow
Okay, so the person before you was promoted into manager when they had your position. Then you should really aim for that. Even though you kinda really hate life there, but now you put in so much work there and maybe nothing better will come. Or study, study more. Because they say so. And please, study what has the best rates for employment - that shall be your factor number 1 when choosing.
TADA! With the above list you can become just how I tried to be for a good portion of my life: Liked, pleasant, bland. Spending most of my time doing something I deeply hated, and the rest of the time complaining about it or doing mindless activities for self indulgence until I had to do what I hated again. When out shopping for clothes I would see all the items I wanted and secretly drool over them, but then instead go for the secure option of something grey and boring. I would have a very busy calendar, filled with things that served me no purpose and people whom I shared nothing with.
At this point of my life I am instead pushing to become the most honest version of me. To strip away everyone’s opinions and ways and it’s scary and liberating and beautiful. We live in a universe where we never know what can happen next and if we turn off the auto pilot, life blossoms and surprises. Every day I walk further and further away from all the shoulds, as I fall in love with the unknown and the adventure of existence.
I wish you personal freedom, whatever that may be to you.
Love
